Welcome to our Botanical Diary, following along with the growing season at Frayed Knot Farm.

As new blooms come to life at this Northeast Ohio farmstead, we're sharing information and at-home styling inspiration for each plant.

I love seeing anything that grows really tall and bright in the field. It's always the first thing visitors ask about. It catches your eye and has a really captivating foliage. If it can be contained properly it makes a really lovely low maintenance perennial.

Ground cover + joyful bloom

 A winner in my book!

-Em Pek, Frayed Knot Farms

Native to Europe and Asia, migrated to the United States . Tansy originated from the Greek word athanasia, which means immortality. (Rxlist.com)

CULTURE IMAGEAs lady's laces, everlasting peas,
True-love-lies-bleeding, with the hearts-at-ease,
And golden rods, and tansy running high,
That o'er the pale-tops smiled on passers-by.
From "The Cross Roads; or, The Haymaker's Story", by John Clare. (McGill University Wiki)

Styling Notes

Bright little buttons of color, paired with their umbel shape give Tansy its lighthearted and playful feel (like Circe).

These would present beautifully in multiples along a tablescape- low enough to really show off those fun little blossom tops. Allow the fullness of the flower shape to form a crown over the top of your vessel.
