Together with Alexis Chinon Hedderson, we have created an art and literature workshop designed to engage and explore the beauty of children's literature.

Throughout the experience, kids will create, learn, read, and engage with the story of Frederick, a children's classic by Lio Lionni. Using pastels and torn paper collage, each child will experience the story through the act of creation, building an artistic expression of their own interpretation of the story. Each child will receive a copy of Frederick, as well as all materials to create their own work.

  • This experience is best suited to children 5-7 years old
  • All materials included: pastels, archival paper, adhesive, hardcover copy of Lio Lionni's Frederick
  • Social distancing and safety measures will be observed
  • Drop off starting at 9:15 am, pick up at 10:30 am
  • This event is for the kids -- caregivers and parents are invited to to experience the Van Aken District during the duration of the workshop :)
