Welcome to our Botanical Diary, following along with the growing season at Frayed Knot Farm.
As new blooms come to life at this Northeast Ohio farmstead, we're sharing information and at-home styling inspiration for each plant.

I bought these seeds from an incredible seed keeper that I've learned from tremendously over the years and who I admire deeply. Owen of True Love Seeds, along with a comunnity of farmers save culturally important and heirloom seeds to preserve those histories and help support the work of food sovernignty and sustainable agriculture
Growing out these mothewort seeds and saving them myself feels like an honor to continue to keep these stories alive.
-Em Pek, Frayed Knot Farms
Known for having many medicianal purposes, either as tinctures, topical oinments or teas. It is most commonly used for menstrual and menopause pain (trueloveseeds.com, wikipedia.com)

Motherwort is helpful when you have to do something hard, something that makes your insides churn, and when you have to do it with a calm exterior. The botanical name, Leonurus cardiaca, evokes both the lion and the heart – this is not coincidence. This is a plant for courage and boundaries: the courage to do the needful thing, the boundaries to hold a safe space. (Ryn Midura, Commonwealth Center for Holistic Herbalism)

Totally Suessical
These were new to me when Em brought them by, I love the way the leaves instersperse with the flower stalks- these are ALL about texture!

I love these styled in our glass house terrariums- play up that whimsy!
